Anita Hill Gamez, 81, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Anita was born on December 21, 1940, in Millersview, Texas, to Victor Hill and Cruz Pena Hill. Anita married Miguel Gamez on August 29, 1955; they were married for 65 wonderful years. Anita was very proud when she received her GED and could apply and work for the school district as an aide and eventually working as a Records Clerk with the Migrant Department. She retired from Hereford Independent School District after 33 years in 2003. She enjoyed working with the children, parents, teachers, and co-workers involved in the HSD Migrant Program. She continued to work part-time in the school district as a records clerk for several more years.

Anita enjoyed traveling with her sisters and friends across the country and visiting casinos along the way. She was the life of the party and brought many laughs to her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing to all kinds of music and enjoyed dressing up for work and special occasions.

Anita is survived by her three daughters Sara Pesina and her husband Raul, Sylvia Hughes and Cynthia Marquez and her husband Eloy; six grandchildren Vanessa Rocha (Benny), Valerie Pesina, Erica Marquez, Lori Hughes, Erin Parker (Aliex), and Jeffrey Marquez (Kelli); eight great grandchildren Alex Rocha, Nicholas Rocha (Julia), Elijah Belew, Zachary Rocha, Noah Strickland, Madilynn Marquez, Lenni Marquez, and great grand baby on the way, Averi Parker.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Miguel Gamez, her son Mario Gamez, three sisters Lucia Garza, Alma Lopez, and Julia Arellano, and two brothers Abram Hill and Gumersindo (Chindo) Hill.
