Angelina Valdez, better known as either "Eva" or "Evangelina", went to her Heavenly Home at the age of 100 on Wednesday, December 29, 2020, in Hereford. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Hereford Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Ted Taylor reading the obituary and Pastor Christopher Valdez, grandson, officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Family and friend condolences can be received Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home, with a prayer service and time of sharing at 4:30 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A face mask is required to attend all services, your safety and health matter to us.

Angelina was born on November 23, 1920, in Saltillo, Coahuila, México, to parents Francisco and Francisca (Durón) Herrera. Angelina married Manuel Valdez on December 15, 1939, in Saltillo, Coahuila, México.

Eva and her family moved to Hereford from México in 1961. Their last child was born here in Hereford. Foremost, Eva was a homemaker. Best known as "Mom" to her family, she raised her 8 children, her 5 oldest grandchildren, and also babysat quite a few of her other grandchildren. She was known for her smile and her hospitality. She loved to cook, and she was great at it. She also loved to sew, knit, and embroidery; she was an expert in all of these areas. Eva also traveled with her family, working in the 'fields' in Texas, Arizona, Idaho, and Colorado; she also worked in the vegetable sheds here in Hereford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, one brother, and one son-in-law.

She is survived by all of her children, Manuel Valdez and wife Irma of Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, Rogelio Valdez and wife Esther of Castle Rock, CO., Dora Garcia of Hereford, Eulogio Valdez and wife Susy of Rockwall, TX., Yolanda Esparaza and husband Victor of Dallas, TX., Raul Valdez and wife Becky of Hereford, Evangelina Villegas and husband Victor of Hereford, and Adriana Garcia and husband Rodolfo of Garland, TX., 27 grandchildren; many great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
