Alois "Al" Schumacher, 84, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 2:00 PM with Celebrant Tony Neusch officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.  Visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.

Al was born September 12, 1938, in Knox City, Texas, to Karl and Emma (Hannik) Schumacher. He has been a resident of Hereford, Texas, since 1964. He worked for Curry Water Well Services and 20 plus years with Deaf Smith County. He married Sammie Lane in 2001, in Hereford. After Al's retirement he still made it a point to drive around and make sure the "the County was still operating and in good shape." Al enjoyed visiting and checking in with his buddies, even his friends at the nursing home. He loved playing dominoes, card games, watching westerns, Wheel of Fortune, baseball, and traveling with his wife. Some of Al's greatest enjoyments in life were pranking his grandchildren, playing games with his children and grandchildren, and cheating just to see if they would catch him; playing bowling on the Wii game and never getting beat by his grandchildren and loving the quality time spent with his family whom he loved dearly. Al was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and on many Wednesdays, early in the morning, you could find him at church for the Day of Adoration. Al will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sammie Schumacher of Herford, Texas, his son, Karl Schumacher and his wife Brooke of Cedar Park, Texas, his daughters, Kimberly Ortiz and her husband Alejandro of Amarillo, Texas, and Camille Lance of Lubbock, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Kianna Ortiz, Sethen Ortiz, Nevaeh Ortiz, and Alivia Ortiz; and his sister, Mary Ehly of Canyon, Texas.

Al is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Joe, Albert, Carl, and Herman Schumacher, and 2 sisters, Lucy Lindeman, and Clara Koetter.
