Abel "Y" Garza, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pablo Lopez officiating at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A family and friend Visitation/Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the funeral home, with a prayer service starting at 6:00 P.M.

Abel was born to his loving parents, Elias Garza Sr., and Paula (Munic) Garza in Gonzales, Texas on May 22, 1938.

Abel was a long-time Hereford resident. Growing up with his siblings, he was in a traveling Mariachi band called "Los Garza's" and they shared their aptitude talent with so many over the years. Abel had a strong passion for music, especially playing the guitar, he was quite the master.

At the age of fifty-five years old he gave his life to the Lord. Abel devoted the rest of his life by using his talent for praise and worship at Tempo la Hermosa de Hereford. Abel served as assistant Pastor and was a praise and worship leader. Abel loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. he enjoyed spending his spare time with his family and grandchildren.

Those left to carry on Abel's strong work ethic, loving spirit and loving heart are his children, Elias Garza and his wife Pearl of Hereford, Texas, Esmeralda Garza, Mark Garza, Maricella Garza all of Amarillo, Texas, Martin R.Garza of San Antonio, Texas; his siblings, Maria Flores of Abilene, Texas; his twenty-two grandchildren; his numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Those preceding him in passing are his parents, Elias Garza Sr., and Paula (Munic) Garza; his brother's, Elias Garza, Jr., Martin Garza; his sister, Alicia Olivo.
